Please call for a whole house inspection!
The entire asembly including the suroundings needs to be addressed
If you are trying to fire proof your home.
PLEASE look at the entire structure. Not jut the roof, the vents, the siding, the vegitation but the entire picture. Fire can get in through a small opening. A tile roof is not fire proof, they are rated with out wind blowing embers at them. Most windows are not fire proof.

Fire Rating of a product is generated through testing by a certified testing agency. With roofs the rating is from Class A (Ability to resist Sever Fire) to D (Combustable)
Most other ratings reflect on a time that the asembly can withstand fire. From 20 minuets to several hours
The two most noted entry points for wind driven fire is the roof and ventilation openings. That being said nobody watched or knows exactly how the majority of structures that burned (failed) actually ignited.
ROOFS
The three most common Pitched roofs are Shingles, Tile and Metal. All three come in a wide variation of colors and styles. When it comes to fire all three can be an excelent choise. THEY NEED TO BE INSTALLED WITH WIND-DRIVEN FIRE-RESISTANCE IN MIND! The Entire assembly must be installed properly, the flashings, underlayment, vents sealing and hip and ridge must all be taken into account.
The three most common Low Sloped roofs are Modified Bitumen, Cap Sheet and TPO.
Properly installed these are Fire resistant, not nesessarly Class A though, but several are not installed properly.
Vents
The average home in the western U.S. is stick frame, with an attic or ventalation system in the top part of the structure. Most are built without a fire resistance in system in them. The good news is that (in several cases) this can be addressed. The solution is either an added barrier or shutter system. We can advise you on this and you can even do it yourself and we can advise you on the materials. (we do sell te supplies)
Other entry points are the Windows, Siding, adjacent structures, any opening where fire can enter either the envelope and the interior of the structure.
